L'emploi dans les sièges sociaux au Canada, de 1999 à 2005

Abstract

Ce document présente une analyse des tendances touchant l'emploi dans les sièges sociaux du secteur des entreprises au Canada de 1999 à 2005. On y examine l'évolution du nombre de sièges sociaux et du nombre d'emplois dans ces derniers au cours de la période en question. L'examen englobe aussi les effets de la propriété étrangère sur l'emploi dans les sièges sociaux. L'une des questions abordées consiste à savoir quelle part de l'emploi - et de la croissance de l'emploi - dans les sièges sociaux au Canada est associée aux entreprises sous contrôle étranger; nous considérons également les répercussions que peut avoir sur l'emploi le transfert à des intérêts étrangers du contrôle d'une entreprise auparavant sous contrôle canadien. Le document examine en outre le rythme de création et de disparition des sièges sociaux au fil du temps, le but étant d'établir si la fermeture d'un siège social est un phénomène rare ou au contraire plutôt courant. Enfin, le document expose les tendances entourant l'emploi dans les sièges sociaux au niveau des régions métropolitaines au cours des six dernières années.
