Abstract

Offshoring of high added value services is a reality and companies that want to be competitive in the globalized market are forced to search for locations in emerging countries to operate with talented human resources. As a result, these firms will obtain a competitive productivity-cost relation while helping them to cover the talent shortage generated. The decision to start an offshore operation requires a multidisciplinary analysis that allows firms to select the best possible locations, but usually do not have the resources and the time to do it conscientiously. The objective of this paper is to present the experience of Spanish engineering companies in their evaluation and implementation of offshore strategies using the PESTEL analysis. Some conclusions will be drawn and can be useful for other sectors to be applied.
