Abstract

Dans la plupart des économies du monde, les PME sont considérées comme les véritables vecteurs de la création d'emplois et de la richesse. Ces entreprises, à travers leur dynamisme et leurs activités, constituent un moteur pour la croissance et un outil de redistribution de la richesse. Ces caractéristiques des PME s'appliquent également aux pays africains, alors qu'elles constituent, en plus, un important acteur pour la réduction de la pauvreté. Mais, la création et le développement de ces entreprises nécessitent un cadre harmonieux et propice, et doit permettre d'obtenir des ressources en quantité et qualité suffisante, lesquelles peuvent être physiques, financières, humaines, informationnelles et relationnelles. Or, l'environnement des affaires et les insuffisances de l'écosystème africain sont considérés comme l'une des principales causes de l'échec ou de la faible compétitivité des entreprises de ce continent. Qu'en est-il au Cameroun ? Une enquête réalisée auprès de PME camerounaises, à laquelle ont répondu plus de cent propriétaires-dirigeants sur leurs capacités à être compétitives dans un environnement d'affaires mondialisé, semble démontrer que ces entreprises ont d'importants défis à relever si elles veulent se développer et même assurer leur pérennité. Un environnement bien nanti mais déficient sur le plan de l'organisation et de l'accès aux ressources, ainsi que sur les comportements des différents acteurs économiques, est un défi supplémentaire pour les dirigeants de PME, qu'ils ne peuvent relever seuls. Les pouvoirs publics ont donc devant eux un important travail à faire pour rehausser le niveau de compétitivité des PME et celui-ci passe par une modernisation des infrastructures en place afin de les aligner aux normes mondiales.
