Gains And Losses From Farm Commodity Programs Under The 1985 Food Security Act

Abstract

This paper estimates annual gains and losses from 1986 corn, wheat, rice and cotton programs and compares with those estimated for 1984 and 1985. Cost:Sto U.S. consumers and taxpayers outweight net gains to producers by $2.6 billion in 1986 -- Sl.1 billion smaller than the average for 1984 and 1985.
