Sozial-ökologische Herausforderungen bei der Integration von Wasserstoff in das Energiesystem

Abstract

Wasserstoff (H2) wird unter dem Stichwort "Sektorenkopplung" eine Schlüsselrolle in Wirtschaft und Politik zugesprochen, da er vielfältig einsetzbar, speicherbar und umweltfreundlich produzierbar ist. Noch nicht abschließend geklärt ist, wie der Ausbau wasserstoffspezifischer Infrastrukturen die deutsche Energielandschaft verändern und ob dieser zukünftige Ausbau als Treiber für potenzielle Umweltbelastungen wirken wird. Denn multimodale Wasserstoffsysteme sind mit neuartigen und zusätzlichen Infrastrukturen im Raum verbunden, deren Auswirkungen auf Menschen und Umwelt bisher unzureichend untersucht wurden. Ziel dieses Beitrages ist es, die sozial-ökologischen Herausforderungen bei der Integration von Wasserstoff in das Energiesystem zu identifizieren und anhand folgender Aspekte näher zu untersuchen: 1) die Komplexität der Wasserstoffwende und ihre Charakteristika eines wicked problems, 2) die Projektion möglicher Umweltwirkungen verschiedener Ausbaupfade und 3) die Abschätzung der Akzeptanz von Wasserstofftechnologien. Darauf aufbauend werden relevante Belange abgeleitet, die bei einem nachhaltigen Ausbau der H2-Wirtschaft zu berücksichtigen sind.
