Abstract

Das WIFO hat zur Darstellung tourismusspezifischer Unterschiede sowie zur Analyse der unterschiedlichen Entwicklungspfade der österreichischen Tourismusregionen ein Kennzahlensystem entwickelt, das auf der Verknüpfung verschiedener Kenngrößen aus einer Sonderauswertung der Leistungs- und Strukturstatistik für die Jahre 2002 und 2005 basiert. Der Erfolg einer Tourismusregion hängt demnach von einem Bündel von Faktoren ab, die sich zum Teil nicht isolieren lassen und einander großteils gegenseitig beeinflussen. Dazu gehören betriebsgrößenorientierte Erweiterungsinvestitionen, qualitätsverbessernde Investitionen, Innovationen, Aufwertung des Humankapitals sowie Bildung von größeren integrierten Tourismusdestinationen mit hoher Tourismusintensität. Der zusammengefasste Effekt einer Intensivierung der Erfolgsfaktoren schlägt sich weitgehend in einer Steigerung der Produktivität und des Marktanteils nieder.
