Abstract

"La primera parte compila las investigaciones correspondientes a la formación de precios en el país. Se ha documentado que, en economías muy diferentes, ante los cambios no esperados de la política monetaria se obtiene una respuesta rápida y transitoria de la actividad real. En los precios, por el contrario, la reacción es lenta y permanente. En la mayoría de los países de América Latina es muy poco lo que se ha profundizado acerca de esta evidencia y no se ha podido precisar si la lenta respuesta en los precios se debe a la presencia de rigideces originadas en la formación de salarios, un entorno poco competitivo, las regulaciones en los precios o en otras restricciones en la fijación de estos, aspectos que serán tratados en el presente libro."
