Nachhaltigkeit als Voraussetzung für die Einsatzfähigkeit der Bundeswehr

Abstract

The design of an operationally and militarily prepared Bundeswehr of the future requires the consideration of multiple facets. Its operation requires reliable access to economic resources (labour, capital, land) and their efficient management. This completely addresses the contradiction between sustainability and operational capability that is put forward by apparent opponents of a “sustainable defence” approach. An operationally capable Bundeswehr requires the consideration of central aspects of sustain¬able management in order to be able to act effectively now and in the future.
