Profils Et Déterminants Socioéconomiques De La Classe Moyenne En Tunisie

Abstract

Cette étude cherche à évaluer le poids de la classe moyenne en Tunisie et à définir son contour. En exploitant les données de l'Enquête Budget-Consommation et Niveau de Vie des Ménages Tunisiens de 2005 et 2010 nous trouvons que la classe moyenne en Tunisie s'est élargie entre ces deux dates. La classe moyenne représente environ les deux tiers des ménages et peut être divisée en trois catégories : la classe moyenne supérieure, la classe intermédiaire et la classe vulnérable. L'emploi et la propriété du logement, critères les plus utilisés par les autorités publiques pour identifier la classe moyenne, ne caractérisent que les classes moyennes vulnérable et intermédiaire. Il apparaît, à travers le modèle probabiliste adopté, que les conditions de logement, le niveau d’éducation et le nombre de salariés dans le ménage sont les critères les plus marquants des classes de revenu supérieur. Il se trouve également que les écarts en matière de niveau de vie entre le milieu urbain et le milieu rural, et entre les régions de l’Est et les régions de l’Ouest de la Tunisie, persistent et touchent toutes les classes de revenus, notamment la classe moyenne.
