Global network analysis of links between business, climate change, and sustainability and setting up the interconnections framework

Abstract

At the global scale, the interdependence between business, climate change (CC), and sustainability is complex and affects seriously human well-being. This article explored the links and trends between business, CC, and sustainability by proposing a framework. The 3206 results collected from the Web of Science from 1994 to Jan 01, 2022, were analyzed using specialized software. The literature review revealed no studies on these concepts in the Web of Science database. The data trend analysis depicted future research themes like sustainability, development goals, COVID-19, circular economy, innovation, engagement, empirical evidence, financial development, CO2 and emissions, trade, trade openness, and economic growth. This study discussed challenges related to strategic economic sectors such as agriculture, energy, land, food, and water. This research contributes to identifying interactions between natural resources and the economy, establishing a framework for strategic development. Sustainable management of natural resources provides services and meets development needs. This study revealed that water, agriculture, and soil sectors are consequently the most sensitive to climatic hazards and socioeconomic changes. This study allows us to build a framework for strategic development and help discover relationships between natural resources and the components of the socioeconomic system in the CC context.
