Abstract

[eng] This paper examines the optimal degree of agricultural export produce prices stabilization within two systems : a minimum guaranteed price and an authorized fluctuations margin. The producer always saves for precautionary purposes as integral stabilization is suboptimal. A static comparative analysis shows how mean preserving increases in risk affect the optimal choice between private insurance against risk (precautionary saving) and parastatal stabilization.
