Abstract

[eng] Direct Foreign Investments: Growth and the Specific Nature of Trade with the European Union . With the headway made in European construction, cross investments with France's partners have risen considerably. In the 1980s, French investments abroad concentrated on the manufacturing sector while foreign investors in France showed a preference for distribution, credit and holding companies. . The appreciation in the French franc from 1985 to 1989 encouraged French penetration in non-EC OECD countries. French investment in the Europe of 12 and, to a lesser extent, North America increased hand in hand with French exports. Similarly, the growth of non-EC foreign investors is linked to the growth in French imports. European investments in France follow the development of French investments in Europe.
