Cadenas globales de valor: transformaciones y posibilidades de desarrollo para la periferia desde mediados de la década de 1990

Abstract

Durante el último cuarto del siglo XX, la geografía económica mundial experimentó fuertes transformaciones. Una de las causas más importantes de ello fue la creciente internacionalización y segmentación de los procesos productivos, que dio lugar a lo que se conoce como cadenas globales de valor (CGV). El propósito de este trabajo es examinar los cambios registrados en CGV en las últimas dos décadas, determinando cuáles son los países y sectores que más participan y más han incrementado su participación desde mediados de los años 1990 tanto en términos absolutos como relativos, así como analizar si existe o no alguna relación entre desarrollo económico y participación en CGV.
