Abstract

Ez a tanulmány kísérlet Kornai János monumentális munkásságának tudatosan szelektív áttekintésére. Pusztán terjedelmi okokból is töredékes, és természetesen hiányzik még a történelmi távlat is. Kornai hét évtizeden át állócsillagként volt jelen a nemzetközi közgazdaság-tudományban, kiterjedt munkássága a térségünkben élő és alkotó pályatársak közül a legnagyobb hatással volt a világ közgazdasági gondolkodására. Munkái több mint egy tucat nyelven, a világ élenjáró folyóirataiban és könyvkiadóinál jelentek meg, s ehhez mérhetően lenyűgöző az idézettsége is. Bár sosem kapott Nobel-díjat, amit minden bevett mérce szerint megérdemelt volna, tudományos kisugárzása meghaladta számos kitüntetettét. A kerek születésnapjára megjelent ünnepi kötetek megmutatták, hogy szinte nincs olyan területe tudományágunknak, ahol ne vitatták volna élénken meglátásait és javaslatait. E cikkben nem a kronológia a meghatározó, hanem azt próbáljuk bemutatni, mi volt a hatása, miben állt eredetisége, és mi az öröksége.* Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) kód: B31, B41, B52.
