An Imperfect Approach for Looking at the Distribution of Financial and Non-Financial Wealth in Mexico 1984-2012

Abstract

Nuestro propósito es explorar el grado de concentración de la riqueza financiera y no financiera de los hogares mexicanos durante un periodo intenso en materia de reformas económicas. En contraste con el método de imputación propuesto por Davies et al. (2006 y 2010), nosotros desarrollamos un enfoque basado en micro datos. En un intento por superar la falta de datos, ambos ejercicios son blancos de críticas, y por tanto sus resultados tienen que tomarse con mucha cautela. Consideramos una coincidencia estadística bienvenida que para el año 2000 el Gini reportado por Davies et al. (2006) y el estimado aquí basado en el n?mero de vehículos sean casi iguales. Por el momento basta decir que, estadísticamente hablando, vivimos en un mundo casi perfectamente desigual, teniendo a México como un claro ejemplo.
