Abstract

"Roughly half the foreign employees in Germany come from the European Union. Depending to their home countries they partly earn significantly more or less than German employees. A major part of these wage gaps can be explained by divergent qualification and professional experience of foreigners and Germans on the German labour market. Yet an unexplained gap remains. This could be an indication of wage discrmination. This unexplained gap has decreased for many nationalities after their home countries becoming part of the EU." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
