Estructura regional de la informalidad en México después del Covid-19

Abstract

El objetivo es analizar los efectos del confinamiento social ocasionado por la pandemia de covid-19 sobre el empleo informal en México. Se estimó un modelo Logit para determinar la probabilidad de encontrar un trabajador informal dadas ciertas características en cada región del país y a nivel nacional. Los resultados indican que la probabilidad de encontrar un trabajador informal es superior a 50% en los niveles regional y nacional, y que ésta es más alta en las regiones centro y sur. La limitación del estudio es la imposibilidad de los modelos lógicos para identificar las interacciones no lineales entre las variables independientes, lo que dificulta capturar algunas dinámicas del empleo informal. Este estudio aporta una perspectiva innovadora de la informalidad porque la analiza desde una óptica regional. Finalmente, la probabilidad de encontrar un trabajador informal es mayor en todo el país después de la pandemia.
