Abstract

Small-scale biomass gasification with a gas engine is a promising alternative to fossil fuels for decentralized heat and power generation. Downdraft gasifiers are attractive for small-scale use because they require no complex gas cleaning prior to engine utilization, but they are highly sensitive to changes of fuel water content.
