Abstract

Under dual-carbon goals, optimizing integrated energy systems with multi-energy coupling is crucial for reducing costs. However, current studies remain limited in addressing the optimization of equipment capacity with a holistic consideration of system scheduling and operational conditions. Therefore, this study develops a model of integrated energy system that incorporates multiple coupled energy sources within the framework of stepped carbon trading, and investigates the optimization of equipment capacity. The integrated energy system model containing multiple energy sources such as electricity, heat, gas, and hydrogen. Real-time resource scheduling is subsequently conducted using the CPLEX solver in MATLAB, aiming to minimize the total system operating costs while adhering to the principle of optimal operational economy. On this basis, the correlation model between equipment capacities and resource scheduling is established, and optimizations to achieve the best capacity allocation are conducted. As a result, the total system operating costs have been reduced by 47.36 %, equipment operation and maintenance costs have been reduced by 42.37 %, and the costs associated with wind and solar energy curtailment have been eliminated entirely. Furthermore, the capacities of the hydrogen fuel cell and gas boiler are reduced to zero, suggesting that the system can function effectively without these two types of equipment. The methodology and results presented in this study provide a valuable reference for the selection of equipment and capacity allocation in various energy systems.
