Abstract

Multi carrier energy systems (MCES) have an assortment of energy carriers and production resources. These diverse energy carriers are relatively correlated, complicating the preventive maintenance scheduling of MCES. The complexity is more prominent in mid-term scheduling. The main challenge arises when there are shared units in all energy systems such as combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) units. To achieve a reliable and optimized maintenance, the correlation between energy carriers should be taken into account. In this paper, a novel model is proposed for optimized maintenance scheduling of generation units in monopoly MCES. Using the proposed model, suitable universal outage time windows are obtained, whereby the total operation and maintenance costs are optimized. As a case study, the proposed model is examined on a test case comprising electrical, thermal, and cooling systems. Simulation results verified the meticulousness of the proposed model in mid-term maintenance scheduling while respecting reliability constraints.
