Auswirkungen von Grunderwerbsteuererhöhungen auf den Wohnungsmarkt

Abstract

Seit dem Jahr 2006 haben fast alle Bundesländer ihren Grunderwerbsteuersatz erhöht. Die Grunderwerbsteuer stellt ein wichtiges Mittel der Länder zur Konsolidierung ihrer Haushalte dar. Gleichzeitig können Erhöhungen zu einem Rückgang der Marktaktivität und zu Wohlfahrtsverlusten führen. FRITZSCHE und VANDREI (2016) zeigen, dass eine höhere Grunderwerbsteuer nicht nur kurzfristig mit starken Verhaltensanpassungen auf dem Immobilienmarkt einhergeht, sondern auch langfristig die Anzahl der Transaktionen erheblich reduziert. Der vorliegende Beitrag fasst diese Untersuchung zusammen.
