Determinantes de las diferencias regionales en la distribución del ingreso en Colombia, un ejercicio de microdescomposición

Abstract

En este estudio se exploran los determinantes de las diferencias regionales en la distribución del ingreso de los hogares de las veintitrés ciudades principales de Colombia. El objetivo es esclarecer los factores por los cuales en algunas ciudades el crecimiento de la economía ha sido compatible con aumentos sustanciales en la desigualdad del ingreso. La estrategia seguida consiste en modelar cómo sería la distribución del ingreso de los habitantes urbanos de Colombia si las ciudades consideradas compartieran algunas de las características de Bogotá. Para esto se emplean métodos de microdescomposición paramétrica. La estructura de retornos y su interacción con la educación y el número de niños, así como los ingresos no laborales, destacan entre los factores cuyos efectos empeoran la distribución del ingreso. El factor más progresivo de la capital es su estructura ocupacional
