Abstract

Ukazanie się polskiego wydania znanej w całym świecie książki Mitchella Orensteina Prywatyzacja emerytur stanowi dobrą okazję do refleksji na temat dalszego istnienia Otwartych Funduszy Emerytalnych (OFE), stanowiących kapitałowy filar systemu emerytalnego w Polsce. Ustanowienie tego filara w 1999 r. oznaczało właśnie prywatyzację znacznej części tego systemu w naszym kraju. Przeprowadzona została wtedy fundamentalna reforma emerytalna, w wyniku której OFE stały się drugim, obowiązkowym elementem polskiego systemu emerytalnego, obok filara publicznego, obejmującego emerytury z Zakładu Ubezpieczeń Społecznych (ZUS).
