Abstract

Se estudian los determinantes de las diferencias regionales en la distribución del ingreso de los hogares de las veintitrés ciudades principales de Colombia. El objetivo es definir los factores por los cuales en algunas ciudades el crecimiento de la economía ha sido compatible con aumentos sustanciales en la desigualdad del ingreso. Se elabora una estrategia de cómo sería la distribución del ingreso de los habitantes urbanos de Colombia si las ciudades consideradas compartieran algunas de las características de Bogotá. Se emplean métodos de microdescomposición paramétrica y se analizan los factores que empeoran la distribución del ingreso.
