Estimating dynamic binary choice models using irregularly spaced panel data

Abstract

This paper investigates the irregular spacing problem when estimating dynamic binary choice models with panel data. We show that traditional approaches tend to underestimate the state dependence parameter. We propose a new gap dummy-variable estimator to improve estimation performance.
