Wachstumsmonitor - Ausgabe 2 (2021). Eine mehrdimensionale Darstellung der Wachstumsentwicklung der liechtensteinischen Volkswirtschaft

Abstract

Der vorliegende Wachstumsmonitor bündelt 71 Indikatoren, welche die langfristige Wachstumsentwicklung der liechtensteinischen Volkswirtschaft aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln abbilden. Im Vergleich zur letzten Ausgabe des Wachstumsmonitors, in dem eine insgesamt positive Wachstumsentwicklung festgestellt werden konnte, hat sich diese gegenwärtig eingetrübt. Nach starken Wachstumsjahren Mitte der 2010er-Jahre ging das aggregierte Wirtschaftswachstum in den letzten Jahren, also schon bereits vor dem coronabedingten Einbruch 2020, wieder etwas zurück. Darüber hinaus stellt die Corona-Krise die Wirtschaftsentwicklung weltweit vor Herausforderungen, auch wenn ihre Auswirkungen bezüglich Wachstumstendenzen in den verfügbaren Daten noch nicht umfassend reflektiert sind. Auch im Kontext der langfristigen externen Nachfrage und des monetären Umfelds, das durch fehlenden geldpolitischen Spielraum geprägt ist, können Risiken festgestellt werden. Neben diesen makroökonomischen Herausforderungen bestehen Risiken in Hinblick auf die Nachhaltigkeit des Wirtschaftens in Liechtenstein. Trotz zahlreicher Willensbekundungen, schonender mit natürlichen Ressourcen umzugehen und die Nachhaltigkeit des Wirtschaftswachstums sicherzustellen, kann in den letzten Jahren keine Trendumkehr beobachten werden. Das hohe Wohlstandsniveau in Liechtenstein geht gegenwärtig mit erheblichen Kosten für die Umwelt und Unsicherheiten für die langfristige Tragfähigkeit einher.
