Abstract

This paper intends to contribute to the microeconometric studies about Brazilian manufacturing through an alternative approach in the estimation of this sector capital stock. Actually, the information concerning this variable has - through which is possible to follow the firms in the research. A second concern is related to the excessive frequency of missing values in the reporting of acquisition of tangible assets throughout the research. The analysis undertaken revealed evidences of a random behavior in such values, corroborating the idea of data imputation in this variable. Once realized this procedure, both the investment flows and the capital stocks turned out exhibiting a similar pattern, in the aggregate, to the original series. Nevertheless, there were a significant change on their levels, but yet not altering their variability structures.
