Abstract

La innovación se impone como una palabra clave en las políticas públicas y acciones de los Estados para acompañar al sector agropecuario. Las instituciones de ciencia y tecnología, así como también los servicios de extensión agropecuaria, son convocados para orientar las transiciones tecnológicas, económicas y sociales, y generar en interacción con diversos actores, las innovaciones que permitirán responder a los grandes desafíos contemporáneos. Este libro propone un conjunto de análisis de estos procesos en el contexto latinoamericano, a partir de estudios de casos nacionales en nueve países de la región: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, México, Nicaragua, Paraguay, y Uruguay. El mismo contempla un trabajo de reflexión sobre el rol de las instituciones internacionales como la FAO y el IICA en la definición de la agenda regional sobre la innovación agropecuaria, y la capacidad del sector privado para transformar les formas de producción y de consumo. Este trabajo colectivo constituye una contribución para pensar de forma objetiva las trayectorias históricas, el estado actual y los desafíos que enfrentan los sistemas y las políticas de innovación agropecuaria en América Latina.
