Abstract

Notre article explore les sapeurs-pompiers volontaires (SPV), une forcé supplétive essentielle pour assurer un service public de qualité. Le champ du volontariat est peu exploré au prisme du management de l'implication. En dépassant le niveau individuel, nous abordons cette collaboration désintéressée du point de vue de l'organisation. Nous mobilisons la littérature sur le management de l'implication en identifiant ses formes concrètes ainsi que les processus managériaux mis en jeu pour mobiliser l'engagement des SPV. Notre terrain d'étude est celui d'un service départemental d'incendie et de secours français. A l'aide d'entretiens semi-directifs auprès de sapeurs-pompiers volontaires « actifs » et « démissionnaires », au sein de différents types de centres de secours, nous identifions trois caractéristiques du management de l'implication des sapeurs-pompiers volontaires : le degré de proximité managérial, le degré de remplaçabilité organisationnelle, et le degré de frustration opérationnelle.
