Abstract

Is the market economy capable of eventually leading to peace? This question is still hotly debated between advocates of liberalism and heterodox or Marxist authors. For Fukuyama, the planetary advent of the market economy leads to the end of history. Since 1990, wars have not stopped and the question is even whether conflicts and wars are not consubstantial with capitalism. With the advent of sustainable development and the need to combat global warming, the market economy based on short-term profit alone seems to be leading to the end of history, the end of humanity.
