Abstract

There are three types of interest for a country: national defence, the armaments industry and basic research and development. The large firms are rather domestic, but sales abroad are increasingly developed in order to benefit from economies of scale. The question of the interest of the military-industrial complex for the economic development and independence of the Nation is still being discussed for second-tier economies. Today, American production largely dominates this market, even if other countries may compete with it on certain specific materials.
