Abstract

Contrary to the dominant theses on the subject, the negative effects of the impact of the indigenous and especially autonomous armaments industries on the national economy of the Third World countries far outweigh the advantages obtained in terms of know-how , industrializing industries and autonomy. Any independence of developing countries by this key sector remains illusory in the face of the virtual monopoly of research and development in developed countries or very large countries. The expected ripple effects are all the weaker since the economies of the countries of the South are too often "dislocated".
