Informalidad y subempleo en Colombia: dos caras de la misma moneda

Abstract

La informalidad agrega los empleos de baja calidad desde la visión de la demanda (baja productividad), y el subempleo los agrega desde la visión de la oferta (insatisfacción con el empleo). La necesaria interacción entre ofertas y demandas en el mercado de trabajo implica que las variables mencionadas están interconectadas tanto por determinantes sistemáticos comunes como por efectos aleatorios comunes. Teniendo en cuenta este vínculo, en este trabajo se describe analíticamente a los trabajadores informales vís a vis los subempleados en las trece áreas metropolitanas de Colombia. También se realiza un análisis conjunto de los determinantes de la informalidad y el subempleo utilizando un modelo econométrico que incorpora la correlación de los términos de error (modelo probit bivariado).
