Optimizing the Private Use of the Soil Resource: An Application of Optimal Control Theoiy

Abstract

A fifty year model which considered the impacts of technological progress and topsoil loss on soil productivity, and discount rates on net present value was developed. While discount rates and technological progress directly affected income calculations, solutions were more robust with respect to alterations in technological progress than discount rates.
