Influencia del nivel educativo de los padres en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes de ADE. Un enfoque de género

Abstract

En la abundante literatura sobre el rendimiento académico se consideran de manera general 3 tipos distintos de determinantes que pueden tener influencia en el mismo: determinantes personales, sociales e institucionales. Dentro de los determinantes socio-ambientales y personales, el entorno familiar más o menos propicio al esfuerzo académico, la posibilidad de ayuda y el refuerzo familiar en los estudios de los hijos, el afán de superación y de lograr una posición socio-cultural mejor que la de la generación anterior pueden ser factores de gran importancia. Por ello, este trabajo analiza la posible influencia que en el rendimiento académico de los alumnos de la licenciatura de ADE puede tener el nivel educativo de sus progenitores, una vez controlados otros factores que pueden incidir en el mismo. Adicionalmente, se analiza si la influencia del nivel formativo de los padres tiene igual fuerza o distinta en alumnos y alumnas, realizando así un enfoque de género. La base de datos empleada para el estudio empírico corresponde a las cuatro últimas promociones (2005-2009) de alumnos de ADE de una universidad privada con un alto nivel de exigencia.
