Topographien des Machbaren: Wissenschaft, Technik und die soziale Konstruktion von Möglichkeitshorizonten

Abstract

Vorstellungen über Mögliches und Machbares sind unverzichtbare Orientierungspunkte des Denkens und Handelns. In modernen Gesellschaften werden sie zunehmend durch Wissenschaft und Technik geprägt. Florian Irgmaier analysiert die Mechanismen, durch die dieser Einfluss zustande kommt, und entwickelt begriffliche sowie theoretische Grundbausteine einer Soziologie der Konstruktion von Möglichkeitshorizonten. Dazu beschreibt er die Wissensformen und kognitiven Operationen, auf die jede Auseinandersetzung mit der Zukunft angewiesen ist. Der besondere Einfluss von Wissenschaft und Technik beruht, so wird aus dieser Perspektive deutlich, auf ihren eigentümlichen epistemischen Leistungen: Trivialisierung, Medialisierung und Objektkonstitution.
