Demokratische Resilienz: Auch für Gesellschaften ist die Pandemie ein Stresstest

Abstract

Autokratische Tendenzen weltweit bedrohen liberale Demokratien. Auch hier lässt sich von Wellen sprechen, von vulnerablen Ländern und von kritischen Verläufen. Und die Corona-Pandemie erhöht den Druck, denn die gesundheitliche Notlage verlangt schnelle Entscheidungen und zeitweise das Aussetzen von Grundrechten. Eine Studie gibt erste Hinweise darauf, was Demokratien stark macht. Sie zeigt: Keine Gesellschaft ist immun gegen Autokratisierung. Aber es gibt Mittel zur Stärkung der demokratischen Resilienz.
