Von den "trockenen Tälern" der Risiko- und Wachstumsfinanzierung

Abstract

Dieser einleitende Beitrag zum Schwerpunkt "Risikokapital in Österreich" behandelt den in der Literatur als "valley of death" bezeichneten kritischen Übergang von der öffentlichen Forschungs- zur privaten Wachstumsfinanzierung. Die Analyse identifiziert die Ursachen von Finanzierungslücken sowie die besonderen Eigenschaften der betroffenen Unternehmen und erörtert die wirtschaftspolitischen Handlungsmöglichkeiten. In einer Zusammenfassung der einzelnen Artikel dieses Heftes steckt der Beitrag den thematischen Rahmen dieses Schwerpunktheftes der WIFO-Monatsberichte ab. Besonderes Augenmerk wird auf den Gegensatz zwischen den in Österreich einerseits guten allgemeinen Finanzierungsbedingungen für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen und dem andererseits sehr schwach entwickelten Markt für Risikokapital gelegt.
