Corporate Social Responsibility Practice of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation: A Comparative Study on the Basis of Carroll’s Pyramid

Abstract

The paper tries to explore current practices in CSR by BRTC. The discussion is based on interviews with employees, managers and stakeholders who deal with CSR issues and strategy and an analysis of published reports such as annual reports of consecutive years. Purpose of this paper is to explore the enablers of corporate social responsibility practices in Bangladesh via seeking the views of listed transportation corporation like BRTC in Bangladesh. For this, an in-depth study through multiple methods, for example: exploratory study, interview, were conducted. Findings reveal that BRTC mostly emphasize profitability aspects in comparison to others. They assume that CSR reflects acting as a good corporate citizen, being ethical, obeying the law and being profitable. They define the concept of CSR such as what BRTC do, how they do it and the impact of their behavior on society at large.
