Abstract

Mit der deutschen Wiedervereinigung vor 25 Jahren war die Erwartung an eine schnelle Angleichung der Lebensverhältnisse in Ostdeutschland an das westdeutsche Niveau verbunden. In vielen Bereichen ist die Entwicklung tatsächlich positiv. Dennoch bestehen zwischen Ost und West nach wie vor erhebliche regionale Unterschiede in demografischer, arbeitsmarktpolitischer, wirtschaftlicher und sozialer Hinsicht.
