Vettori low cost e spesa per vacanze dei turisti internazionali in Italia

Abstract

Nel lavoro si fornisce una misura dell?impatto dell?espansione dei vettori low cost sulla dinamica della spesa per vancanze dei turisti internazionali in Italia. Per stimare tale impatto utilizziamo un dataset originale sui posti a sedere offerti sui voli operati dai vettori low cost che collegano ciascun aeroporto italiano con l?estero, integrato con informazioni tratte dall?indagine sul turismo internazionale condotta mensilmente dalla Banca d?Italia. L?analisi econometrica ? svolta mediante la stima di un modello cointegrato vettoriale autoregressivo per l?Italia. Individuiamo un?unica relazione di equilibrio di lungo periodo, che pone in relazione il livello dell?offerta fornita dai vettori low cost con le dinamiche del ciclo economico globale, dei prezzi al consumo relativi e della spesa dei turisti internazionali nel segmento leisure. L?analisi strutturale di impulse-response, mostra come a uno shock positivo all?offerta di voli dei vettori low cost faccia seguito un aumento sia degli arrivi sia della spesa dei turisti internazionali in Italia. In base ai risultati di stima, un?espansione del 10 per cento dell?offerta di tali vettori indurrebbe, nel lungo periodo, un incremento dell?1,7 per cento per le entrate nazionali da turismo internazionale.
