An analysis of the effects of urban fintech development and FDI interaction on export structure upgrading

Abstract

This study utilizes data from 285 prefecture-level cities in China from 2011 to 2023 to examine the impact of the interaction between urban fintech development and foreign direct investment (FDI) on export structure upgrading. The findings indicate that: (1) Urban fintech development significantly promotes the upgrading of export structure. (2) FDI can effectively facilitate the upgrading of urban export structures. (3) FDI plays a mediating role in the relationship between urban fintech development and export structure upgrading. (4) FDI effectively moderates the impact of urban fintech development on export structure upgrading.
