Comportamiento de precios en los mercados domésticos de pasajeros del transporte aéreo

Abstract

A continuación se presenta un estudio sobre el comportamiento de los precios de los boletos en los mercados domésticos de transporte aéreo de pasajeros. La investigación tuvo enfoque cuantitativo y alcance correlacional; se recolectaron datos de 21 países y las variables estudiadas fueron concentración del mercado, precios/km, número de aerolíneas por ruta y por país, distancia de los vuelos e índice de libertad económica. Existe correlación de 0,61 entre los niveles de concentración y los precios promedio por kilómetro; también, correlación de -0,945 entre el precio/km y el número de aerolíneas por ruta. Por cada aerolínea que ingresa en una ruta, los precios pueden disminuir en un 11,6% y a medida que el número de aerolíneas que opera en un país aumenta, disminuye el índice Herfindahl-Hirschman y los precios de los boletos por kilómetro.
