Der Gang zur Wahlurne: Beweggründe für die politische Partizipation

Abstract

Die Wahlbeteiligung bei der Bundestagswahl 2013 lag in den ostdeutschen Bundesländern weiterhin deutlich hinter dem Beteiligungsergebnis für Westdeutschland. In diesem Beitrag werden mögliche Einflussfaktoren auf die Wahlpartizipation untersucht. Die Auswertungen der Allgemeinen Bevölkerungs - umfrage der Sozialwissenschaften 2014 zeigen, dass entgegen weitverbreiteter Einschätzung das Politik - interesse der Bürger in den vergangenen Jahren stark angestiegen ist und zunehmend mehr Menschen ein politisches Engagement ausüben, wodurch die Wahlbeteiligung positiv beeinflusst werden sollte. Gleichzeitig glauben aber immer mehr Befragte, dass ihre tatsächlichen Einflussmöglichkeiten auf das Politikgeschehen gering sind, vor allem in Ostdeutschland. Die Erwartung ostdeutscher Wähler, durch Beteiligung an politischen Wahlen Entscheidungen der Politik ohnehin nicht beeinflussen zu können, kann als ein Erklärungsfaktor für die geringere Wahlbeteiligung dienen.
