Oportunidades educativas reducidas para niños y jóvenes en barrios informales de Bahía Blanca, Argentina

Abstract

Este trabajo busca evaluar las limitaciones para desarrollar capacidades que enfrentan los niños y jóvenes en cinco barrios informales de la ciudad de Bahía Blanca, especialmente en educación. Para ello, se utiliza información de la Encuesta Permanente de Hogares (INDEC) y de tres relevamientos propios. Se halla que, en relación con el total de niños y jóvenes de la ciudad, quienes habitan estos barrios sufren graves privaciones educativas, siendo más fuertes en el acceso a preescolar y secundaria, y en la terminación escolar en el tiempo esperado. La deserción y la repetición también son significativas. A la luz del enfoque de Sen, estos resultados pueden contribuir al diseño de políticas para mejorar el bienestar.
