Abstract

Understanding the role of biodiversity in carbon sequestration as a function of ecosystem under changing climate is crucial to manage the future biodiversity and ecosystem resources in order to adapt and mitigate to climate change. This review paper presents an overview the role of biodiversity and ecosystem service in carbon sequestration as an approach to mitigate climate change by reducing the greenhouse gas from the atmosphere in order to cope with challenges and threats to the current services provision.In worldwide global warming is one of the most discussed topics due to natural and human induced increments in atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases. Rapidly increasing populations and excessive utilization of natural resources will have impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems services. Climate change impact on human wellbeing is measured by the ecosystem services change caused by climate-related biodiversity change.
