Abstract

(Disponible en idioma inglés únicamente) En este trabajo se emplean datos de hogares de dos ciudades panameñas para evaluar los factores que determinan la decisión sobre la duración de la residencia en el contexto de dos modelos. Los factores claves que explican la decisión de alquilar o comprar tienen que ver con el ciclo de vida de la familia, mientras que la elección entre comprar una casa completa o ir construyéndola poco a poco depende principalmente del ingreso y los activos.
