Intercultural competence in companies: an individual, collective or organizational phenomenon?

Abstract

Dans l'optique d'une approche de la stratégie par les ressources et les compétences, la compétence interculturelle est souvent considérée comme nécessaire à des interactions réussies dans un environnement international. La présente recherche s'interroge sur les éventuelles dimensions collectives et organisationnelles de la compétence interculturelle. Suivant une logique inductive, sept mini-cas exploratoires sont décrits, puis discutés à la lumière de plusieurs cadres théoriques, et notamment le modèle de la compétence organisationnelle de Kusunoki et al. (1998). Ce modèle multidimensionnel de la compétence organisationnelle se révèle comme particulièrement pertinent pour comprendre la compétence interculturelle dans les entreprises analysées, entre autres parce qu'il peut être rapproché d'autres théories comme l'apprentissage organisationnel en deux boucles (Argyris et Schön, 1978).
