Abstract

Der Beitrag arbeitet für das Forschungsfeld der Daseinsvorsorge und der Bereitstellung von Infrastruktureinrichtungen an der These, dass es in erster Linie eine bestimmte Perspektive auf Raum - nämlich eine materielle bzw. quantifizierende - ist, die sich innerhalb der aktuellen empirischen Forschung ausprägt. Ergänzend schlägt er deshalb das relationale Raumkonzept von Martina Löw (2001) für die empirische Forschung vor, um genau den Raum empirisch fassbar zu machen, der für die Menschen vor Ort relevant ist. Abschließend werden potenzielle Erkenntnisgewinne anhand der Konzeption einer Untersuchung über private Hochschulen in ländlichen Räumen skizziert.
