Abstract

Employees are considered the most critical resource for any organization. The COVID-19 crisis was never expected by anyone across the globe. The hotel industry is one of the worst hit sectors of the Indian economy. This study aims to explore how the hotel industry developed organizational resilience to survive the first wave of the COVID-19 crisis. For this purpose, survey forms were distributed to a total of 130 human resources (HR) managers/general managers. The survey was distributed and administered via Google Forms. The findings identified 10 broad themes around which the responses were received. The themes were further grouped into three categories: before lockdown phase, during lockdown phase, and after lockdown phase. The results shed light on how HR practices can help revive the hotel industry’s workforce. The results can prove helpful in dealing with the any prodigious situations that may occur in near future due to changing environments.
